People need connections now more than ever. We are addicted to our screens and that hides us from the personal interactions and connections with other people that we need. We want to connect with you, and we want you to be connected to Jesus and other believers.
Many people have told us that we are a very welcoming church. We work hard to know every person is welcome and important in God's Kingdom.
We love a variety of music! Ephesians 5:19 tells us to "sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs." God loves variety, after all He created music in all its forms. We use different types of music and instruments from the organ to the drums. You may not like every song we do, but we hope you can find something you can relate to. While we like music to be our preference, we know that worship isn't really about us, it is about God who is the object of our worship.
We believe in the inerrancy of scripture. In 2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT) Paul tells us that "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right." We preach the whole Bible in love and grace with the understanding that we are all sinners and need Jesus!
Jesus Following. Jesus called the disciples to be followers of Him. Jesus still does that today! As believers we are to obey the commands of Jesus and follow Him. We learn how to do that in community groups. Jesus told the disciples to "go and make disciples of all nations." Matthew 28:19 So we are in the process of helping people become disciples in our preaching and teaching.
Community Minded. Centennial Baptist Church is in Mexico, MO. We are active in our community with several organizations. We are partnered with Uplift Mid-Mo. We give and have volunteers at the Help Center. We have participated in Community Christian Services like the Good Friday service and the Unity Service. We support our schools! We also help many people in the community when we are able. Our church was planted in Mexico in 1945, so our mission is Mexico, MO!
We hope that you will find a Centennial a place you can connect to!
